Give Sacrificially

Mark 12

47  And after this, Jesus sat over against the treasury, and beheld how the people cast money into the treasury; and many that were rich cast in much.

48 And there came a certain poor widow, and she cast in two mites, which make a farthing.

49  And Jesus called his disciples, and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, that this poor widow hath cast more in, than all they who have cast into the treasury;

50  For all the rich did cast in of their abundance; but she notwithstanding her want, did cast in all that she had; yea, even all her living.

Luke 21

1    And he looked up, and saw the rich men casting in their gifts into the treasury;

2    And saw also, a certain poor widow casting in thither two mites.

3    And he said, Of a truth I say unto you, that this poor widow hath cast in more than they all.

4    For all these have of their abundance cast in unto the offerings of God; but she of her penury hath cast in all the living that she had.

All Her Living.

She had no surplus from which to pay a tithe. Her offering was a sacrifice. Her heart attitude was to give even when it may require her to go without a meal or other necessities. I believe the Lord is looking for a people with a heart attitude of sacrifice. Seek first to build up his kingdom and trust that in so doing that all these things will be added to you. He is calling for a sacrifice of our will to His will. Are the daily activities of your life centered on what you want to do or on the calling of Jesus Christ on your life? Would it not be great, if what you want to do is what the Lord wants you to do with your life.

Romans 12

1    I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

2    And be not conformed to this world; but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what that good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God is.

God owns everything; all that we can give Him is our devotion, our life. We show our devotion by learning of Christ, believing in Him, coming to him, giving of our time, our talents, our tithes and offerings. All these things define who we are or who we will become. When we devote ourselves to Christ we work together for the cause of Zion to establish His Kingdom upon the earth. If we follow Jesus Christ and endure to the end, we will in no wise loose our reward. For, he is able to establish us in his Kingdom. Look to him and let him complete the good work he has begun in you. Will you give more than the tithe and offering you give today?
